The start of a new series: sketches of a bright ballerina

Remember my charcoals from life drawing?

Some of my charcoal sketches from life drawing lately.
Some of my charcoal sketches from life drawing lately – really happy with how they’re turning out!

They gave me an idea.

I started thinking about sketching long, light dancer’s limbs against pools of inky black. Then when I found a new course on digital brushes so I could experiment with a charcoal-style, I was sold!

And of course, my model is ballerina Paige – all long and graceful from her pointed toes to the tips of her outstretched fingers.

Here you go, the first of my new series:

They’re printed on beautiful, textured fine art paper and I’m loving them!

More next time… (with a behind-the-scenes video!)

  1. you will notice a change on who I am – going back to my official first name, mainly to do with future art reasons…

so in a way I’ve bought a new “digital brush” as well…just not laden with charcoal…

it’s always interesting how things in this creative life keep having more doors open and the interest it brings.

(If you'd like to leave me a message too, I'd love to hear from you! I've turned off comments on this post because it's older than a couple of weeks, but you can email me at ailene@oldmountainart.com)
