I’ve graduated! I’ve got a shiny, new Diploma of Art and Creativity (Honours) – pretty flash huh?
And while I was in Wellington, of course I did a block week class at The Learning Connexion. I made a dragon (well, technically a wyvern) – but that’s a story for another time…
I had a nosy through my blog from when I was doing my honours and found some of my faves. I hope you enjoy these too:
- “Have you thought about adding backgrounds to your portraits?” my TLC mentor asked, and suddenly, magically, I found my thing. She’s a belly dancer with flying veils in a desert palace.
- Sparking campfire: check. Flowing scarlet dress: check. Flamenco dancer, starlit night, and music swirling: check, check and check.
- The search for mermaids with a GoPro at the swimming pool (spoiler alert: yes, I found them).
- My very first collaboration with a model was ballerina, Paige. We brought her dream of dancing Giselle to life in a whole series.
So, what’s next?
Well, coming up really soon – I’m so excited to be selected for the special Emergent exhibition at the NZ Art Show! This year, Emergent will showcase artworks from around 25 art students and recent graduates, as well as the generous RT Nelson Emerging Artist Awards. It’s an amazing opportunity to be part of the NZ Art Show and what a way to celebrate my graduation!
So if you’re in Wellington over Queen’s Birthday weekend (June 1 to 4), head over to TSB Bank Arena for the NZ Art Show – 4 days of art, thousands of artworks by hundreds of New Zealand artists. So much inspiration!
For a spot of cute, here’s who helped me package my prints to send down:
And, I’ve been having so many adventures this year – from horse riding, to being evacuated because of a cyclone, to steampunk, and a helicopter ride up to crunchy alpine snow! I’ve got loads of photos, stories and sketches for inspiration. And I think those dragons are calling…
