Happy holidays and thanks for your support

Christmas is about to leap out at us and the holidays are so, so close! What are your favourite moments for 2018? I enjoy looking back at the year and finding my top 3. And I thought I’d share:

1. Graduation!

I made sure I got down to Wellington for my honours diploma graduation. My 5 years studying through The Learning Connexion was an amazing journey. It’s what inspired me to be an artist and everything you see at Old Mountain Art. And I learned not only how to make art, but about myself, my creativity, and my voice.

2. Emergent at the NZ Art Show

This was a biggie! The RT Nelson Emerging Artist Awards are open to New Zealand visual art students and recent graduates. Stoked to be one of the 22 finalists selected.

Not only did I have my art in the Emergent exhibition in front of more than 10,000 visitors, I was even interviewed for an article in the Dominion Post.

3. Brand new Spotlight collection

Inspired by the capturing the human form at life drawing, my new collection is now 8 artworks. They’re minimalist, moody, black and white paintings that celebrate the beauty and grace of dancers. And this one’s an ongoing project so more to come next year…

4. The dragons are rising…

Shh… this one’s a secret! More and more dragons have been popping up. I’ve now got one and a half maquettes, a couple of short stories, and ideas on stickies all over my notepad…
