This is it! From first meeting the air dancers to finding inspirations and starting to sketch, I'm so proud to show you the final painting: "The sky beckoned, so she let go, and flung herself to the wind. Air whistled past her, whipped her hair and her skirts, and laughed with her in wild exhilaration."
So, I met these ethereal, playful figures who dived and floated through sun-soaked clouds - I called them “air dancers”. Some ideas need to germinate before they can be brought to life. This is the continuation of my adventure with the air dancers, as I sketch initial ideas for the painting.
I looked around. Yes, there they were - the air dancers. Lithe, long-limbed figures dived in and out of the clouds as though swimming, flying, and dancing all at the same time. Long strands of white trailed and tangled around them as they played. Maybe I could do that too.
The long weekend put on stunning summer days, with the heat and humidity dialled up to ludicrous. Thanks to everyone who braved the wilting weather to visit us at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre for the Raglan Arts Weekend!
Are you hanging out for another holiday? Lucky for us, there’s a long weekend at the end of this month. Which means it’s Raglan Arts Weekend time again!
I've been going to life drawing sessions and watching how a real human body effortlessly and naturally curves and moves - it’s beautiful to watch.
